Founded in Galway City in 1990 by Mary Hoare, Hoare Chartered Accountants provides comprehensive accounting, tax, and compliance solutions to SMEs, family businesses, self-employed professionals, and private clients across the West of Ireland.
Led by Eddie Hoare FCA, our practice stands on a straightforward, enduring principle: direct, ongoing access to experienced senior partners who know your business, your family, and your local market.

Eddie Hoare Managing Director (F.C.A)Eddie is an Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland and has over 10 years of practice experience. Prior to joining the practice, Eddie worked closely with a large portfolio of clients providing audit and corporate advisory services. He specialises in the areas of Audit & Assurance, Accounts Preparation, Company Taxation and Corporate Finance. Eddie has also served as Mayor of the City of Galway in 2023-2024 and is a former Galway Intercounty Footballer.

Mary Hoare Founder & Consultant (F.C.A)
A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Mary is the founding member of the practice and has overseen its growth since formation. Mary has over 30 years of practice experience in all aspects of practice. She specialises in the areas of Accounts Preparation, Personal Tax, Restructure, Company Law and Insolvency. She completed a Diploma in Insolvency with Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Claire Barry, ACCA, is a Manager at Hoare Chartered Accountants, providing practical, professional advice tailored to each client’s individual needs. With experience across a range of accounting and financial matters, Claire works closely with clients to help them achieve their business and financial goals. Her personable, approachable style enables her to build strong relationships while delivering clear, reliable guidance and a consistently high standard of service. Claire is committed to understanding each client’s circumstances and providing solutions that support their long-term success.

Henry O’Toole Manager (A.C.C.A)
Henry joined Hoare Chartered Accountants in 2021 after completing his Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accountancy at ATU Galway (formerly GMIT). Now an ACCA-qualified Manager, he oversees client portfolios across construction, agriculture, and real estate, managing everything from year-end accounts and tax returns to Bright and Xero software integrations. Known for his hands-on, practical approach, Henry works closely with directors and trainees to deliver tailored financial advice and high-standard service. Raised in Connemara and deeply involved in local sports and community organisations, he brings a grounded, client-focused perspective to the firm’s advisory team.

Patrick Reilly Trainee Accountant
Patrick graduated with a 2.1 Honours Bachelor of Business in Accounting degree from ATU Galway in 2023, securing exemptions for the nine Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills exams of the ACCA Qualification.
He joined the practice at Hoare Chartered Accountants in the summer of 2024. Since then he has successfully passed all the strategic professional exams of the ACCA Qualification. Patrick is now in the process of completing his work experience to achieve full qualification

Nathan Flaherty Trainee Accountant
Nathan joined Hoare Chartered Accountants in September 2025 following the completion of his Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Accounting at ATU Galway, where he earned full exemptions from the Chartered Accountants Ireland CAP 1 examinations.
Since joining the practice, Nathan has successfully passed all of his CAP 2 examinations on his first attempt. He is now preparing to begin his Final Admitting Examination (FAE) studies as he works towards achieving full Chartered Accountant qualification.

Sarah Fahy Trainee Accountant
Sarah graduated with a 2.1 Honours Bachelor of Business in Accounting degree from ATU Galway in 2023, securing full exemptions from the Chartered Accountants Ireland CAP 1 examinations.
She joined the practice at Hoare Chartered Accountants in the summer of 2024. Having successfully passed her CAP 2 exams, Sarah is currently working towards completing her Final Admitting Examinations (FAE) with Chartered Accountants Ireland over the coming months as she continues her professional progression.
